Honoring Local Attorneys

May 8, 2009

Text Box: On May 8th, Grace House was proud to host its 14th Annual
Women of Substance Luncheon at the Audubon Tea Room.
Kim M. Boyle, Eneid A. Francis, Martha Kegel, Susan M.
Tyler, and Sharonda Williams were honored as local attorneys
who serve as excellent role models for Grace House clients.
Grace House was also proud to honor Susan West Glennon
with the Service Award as an original founder and dedicated
supporter of Grace House, and Stephanie S., Grace House’s
Alumna of the Year. We were delighted to have over 300 guests
in attendance, including past Women of Substance Honorees
such as Gayle Batt, Suzanne Rusovich, Cecile Tebo, Jenny
Tripkovich, the Honorable Mary Anne V. Lemmon, and Stacy
Horn-Koch.

The event began with the silent auction, which featured many
wonderful items like hotel packages, original artwork, jewelry,
restaurant certificates, and much, much more! This year, we
were very excited to have a raffle for 2 round-trip airline tickets,
donated by Nancy Gaden at Continental Airlines. It was a huge success.
We are so grateful to all our generous donors to the silent auction and raffle this year.

After the silent auction, the Master of Ceremonies, Mark Romig, invited Richard “Buzzy” Gaiennie,
CEO of Bridge House, to lead everyone in prayer. Angie Aldarondo, an opera Masters student at
Loyola University, sang a soulful and heartfelt rendition of “Amazing Grace”. While the salads were
being served, guests enjoyed the delicate songs of harpist Meredith Arnold and the informal
modeling of the Banana Republic line by volunteers from the Banana Republic stores. As the main
course was served, each of our honorees was given their award and each took a brief moment to
speak insightful words of wisdom, encouragement, gratitude, or inspiring life stories.

Cecile Tebo was the chair of our outstanding committee, who volunteered their time and artistic
skills to help make this event come together. Gayle Jones and Kathy Coenson made 40 beautiful
flower centerpieces, one for each table, which were also auctioned off to many happy guests. Curtis
Pinkerton was our Silent Auction Chair and had the daunting task of organizing all the wonderful
donations into lovely packages to be bid on. Grace House is extremely grateful for their participation
in making this event a success. Sponsors for this event include Gap, Inc. and The Rusovich Family at the Integrity Level, and New Orleans Magazine, Cox Cable, Touro Infirmary, and Harrah's New Orleans at the Commitment Level. We would also like to give a warm thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, donors, and everyone who attended the luncheon for making this an enjoyable time for everyone and a success for Grace House. You have helped Grace House continue its mission to provide treatment for our clients regardless of ability to pay, and helped each woman in her recovery from substance abuse. We look forward to seeing you next year! Thank you!
